Gambling can be an expensive hobby by nature. What’s more, if you’re a card shark that cares a lot about presentation, fancy poker accessories can cost a pretty penny, too. Customized LED lit poker tables are thousands of dollars…unless you take matters into your own hands, literally. Redditor Tempest_Rex and his brother-in-law made two poker tables for only $450 and a few days of labor. Check out their results below.

Here are the finished products.

They sketched the design onto plywood and cut the frame.

Here’s the assembled frame.

Then, they cut holes in the board for cup holders (because no game is complete without some cold ones).

They stained the elevated edges, known as the raceway.

For the lights, they bought long strips of LEDs.

The LED lights can change colors with this remote.

The edges of the table are padded and lined with red vinyl.

They coated the raceways with resin for a high gloss.

They attached foam to the edges of the table, which would later be covered by the vinyl.

Then they installed the lights between the raceway and the padded edges.

The final step was adding the play surface.

Now all they have to do is get the crew together and set a buy-in!
